Hi, I’m Samantha, the manager of Rising Sun Enterprises and Expat Properties Osaka.

I came to Osaka from Australia in 1999. I guess I expected somebody to wave a magic wand and be given everything I needed when I got here; of course that’s not what happened. My main problem was trying to get an apartment, and with zero Japanese, it was literally a nightmare.

I had to stay in less than basic (bugs and all) apartments and dormitories until I had enough key money and a Japanese guarantor to get into a place that was decent.. I thought it was ridiculous that there were no nice, clean apartments for foreigners without that dreaded key money, and the need for a Japanese guarantor.

I vowed to change this, and in 2006, opened Expat Properties. We don’t require guarantors or key money, or agents fees. In 2007, Rising Sun Enterprises (with Expat Properties Osaka) became a registered company. We now have fully furnished properties all over Osaka, both private and shared.

In 2007, our biggest project until then; a hotel/weekly apartment type opened. “Expat Resort” Ebisucho is hotel style for both short term and long term guests. Along with the usual facilities, it boasts a spa/Jacuzzi, sauna, gym, rooftop BBQ area and cable TV. This property is only 1.5km to the city center.

In 2008 we plan to open another Expat Resort; this will be along with the many other properties we will purchase in Osaka.
